He has extensive specialised experience working in the area of harmful practices, advancing child protection and addressing inequalities affecting marginalised communities. His work champions systemic change by tackling inequalities, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that London’s next generation can thrive.
About Our Speaker
Dr Leethen Bartholomew is currently Head of the Children and Young Londoners Team at the Greater London Authority, where he leads on policy and programmes to improve the health, wellbeing, and life chances of children and young people across the capital. Previously, Dr Bartholomew was Head of the National FGM Centre at Barnardo’s and Director of SEEN, Barnardo’s national service dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people of African, Asian, and Caribbean heritage. Earlier in his career, he worked on the frontline as a social worker and probation officer before moving into advisory and consultancy roles within London’s safeguarding system. Alongside his professional work, Dr Bartholomew serves as a Trustee of Medical Assistance Sierra Leone, which provides vital medical and practical support to people affected by epilepsy, sickle cell anaemia, albinism and other serious health conditions.
